Call me crazy (or old), but as I continue to grow in my relationship with Jesus, I'm finding that early - VERY early - mornings are when I seem to gain the most from time alone with Jesus. It is not unusual for me to be up at 3 or 4 AM reading Scripture and writing my thoughts of what God is challenging me or encouraging me or convicting me of. Sometimes I share them publicly, sometimes they are so personal that it is just between me and Jesus. This morning is one of those times.

You see, God is convicting me of something very personal that I need to commit to Him and rely more on Him to live as He wants me to.

However, as I sat here at my desk thinking and praying about this, the song "Give Me Jesus" kept popping into my brain. It's an older song, but it is oh so powerful to me. And in many ways strips away all the "stuff" of following Jesus to the bare bones of my life.

Give Me Jesus
In the morning, when I rise. In the morning, when I rise.
In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus,
You can have all this world,
But give me Jesus

When I am alone. When I am alone.
When I am alone, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus,
You can have all this world,
But give me Jesus

When I come to die. When I come to die.
When I come to die, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus,
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
But give me Jesus

If you would like to listen to it, here's a YouTube link to go to, close your eyes, and just listen... "Give Me Jesus". (I apologize for the advertisement you have to endure before you get to the song.)

Philippians 3:8 - "What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ."
